I have 2 questions that I can’t seem to figure out on my own (I am a little technologically challenged), so I’m asking the internets world!
1. I have a video camera that uses either a small tape or a memory card. Can you get something from a tape onto the computer in a digital form? Do I need to solely use the memory card? Should I invest in a digital camcorder or a DVD one?
2. I use bloglines.com to keep tabs on my wordpress friends but is there a “subscription” type service for me to see who has been updating their blogs for blogspot/blogger blogs?
In other news, we have seriously misplaced our camera. This is heartbreaking, because we saved up this year for a good one and seem to have left it at someone’s house between Memorial Day and this weekend. Since I am the master of disaster, I am fairly sure that the story will be that Holly lost the camera. (Bevin – I promise to post a picture of my new haircut as soon as we locate said camera!)
I do not yet have pictures or a name for D&Y’s little baby girl. It will most likely be many weeks before she can come home, so keep those prayers going.
In other news, Andrew slept from 8:30 pm until 7:30 am this morning. He didn’t even wake up once for a binky. I went into his room 2x to make sure he was still breathing!

As far as the camera – here is the deal….. see if you have a firewire connection…. it will be a usb looking spot or opening in your video camera and you will need to buy a firewire cable from like best buy or something. You would plug your firewire cable into your camera and then into your computer. Your computer will need to have a firewire connection too. This is NOT a usb connection, but looks similar. Once you have them both plugged in, you will need some type of software to make the movie. Alot of times windows has this program on there, depending on what type system your computer has… If you have XP or something like that, it should probably have a program already on there like “windows movie maker” or something. Once you get your camera connected to your computer it isn’t too hard to make a show or to upload to Youtube or photobucket movies or something. If you email me at mgrube12 at yahoo dot com I can try to help you further. I am by NO means an expert, but would be glad to try and help. Here is a link that gives some pictures of a firewire connection and stuff, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/getstarted/whatyouneed.mspx
As far as the blog feed…. I thought I had seen some stuff for this.. but I am not sure how to accomplish it and can’t remember where I saw it. If you find out though…let me know!

question for you now… I tried that bloglines thing and it does appear you can add blogger stuff too… but if you have added mine…. when does it show my last post was? I am still learning this bloglines thing… but, when I added my own it showed my last post as May 15th! Which is wrong…. just curious what it shows on yours if you have mine on there….
Thanks!

Ok, maybe I am already on the right track.
My brother told me to get one of these things:

So, I do have one, I just thought I needed more to get things going.
This weekend, I’m going to try it, but I might be emailing you for more help.
Now, off to bloglines to see what I was doing wrong!

Duh…I just went on bloglines and had no trouble adding the blogger blogs. Maybe the first time I tried, I typed in something wrong, threw my hands in the air and gave up.
Me? no patience?
shocking.

Sorry but I can’t be of any help to you. I know absolutely nothing about your questions. I don’t even understand your questions!
Good news on the sleeping baby though!!!

yay on the sleeping baby!
hope you can hook up the video camera. we use a cable to download from our camera to the computer. we bought the sony hd 30 gb harddrive camcorder. it is sweet. hd is sooo nice and with 30 gb we can record up to 7 hours of hd on the camera. the dvds only record 30 min. at a time and you have to buy new discs. if you do get a new camcorder, i recommend the one we got. we are so happy with it.

i like our camera with a mini tape. it holds a lot more than that memory card does (that is really for your photos if your camera takes still photos), and really, the tape is all you need (and cheaper) for video editing on your computer.
i have a mac, so everything is pretty darn easy and practically makes a great movie by itself once i plug the firewire into it. i don’t know much about PC or windows, never liked those. if you don’t have a firewire cable, buy from amazon, they are much much cheaper than best buy.
