First of all, I must do a huge HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY to my wife. I’m only allowed to mention it once today, so here it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- – - -
The check-up
Weight: 21.6 (he hasn’t really gained recently)
Length: 28 1/4 inches
No ear infections. Chest/lungs are clear. The 4 week cold is most likely more than one cold.
Had Hep B and flu shot today. Slightly cranky last night.
The doc did seem concerned when she asked if he was forming any real sounds, like “mama” or “baba” or something. He’s 9 months old. He babbles a lot. It sounds like nananananananana. I don’t think our kid is slow or anything. Hopefully.
Auntie Suz was worried that Andrew was eating too much. He’s not one of those kids that stops eating ever. The doc wasn’t concerned with the amount he’s been eating right now, so long as he’s still getting 20-24 oz of the bottle a day. Now that he’s had things like spaghetti, pork chops and mashed potatoes, getting him to take the bottle is a little tough. Maybe we can spike it with steak or something.
Last night, I went a little video crazy. Here’s a few. They are probably only funny and adorable to me, but I thought I’d share.
The first one, it’s tough to hear what’s going on with Aunt Laura working hard to feed K. in the background, but I totally swear that Andrew was throwing the ball on cue!

So cute!! I know what you mean about having a baby that doesn’t really like to gain
I think they are just so active that its hard to keep the weight on!

Hey Holly.. I had to laugh at your post. You mention the doctor was a little concerned about him not saying baba, mama etc but then I watched your video clip of him eating and wanting more spaghetti… he is saying babababa repeatedly in there… there was yayayaya too. He is babbling perfectly appropriately
.
Can you even believe that Colton is catching up in size! He weighs 20lbs now and is 29″… I can’t believe it!
BTW… Andrew is absolutely adorable!

Avalon has the same problem. LOVES food. Not interested in the bottle. She has no teeth, yet can eat almost anything in great amounts. Yet she’s only 15 pounds. Probably not for long.
Andrew will be easy to wean, since he loves food so much. That will make it much easier on the mommies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOIS…..May all your dreams and wishes come true!!!!
I think the doc needs to stop being a bit concerned…when I watched the video of andrew eating spaghetti….he was making those sounds …he is trying …. and when he has something to say he will say it in plenty of time…. and yes I think he was throwing the ball on cue also….
I don’t know about being a short stop….but at this point a definite linebacker…the videos were just too funny…..he has some great facial expressions…thanks for sharing them
Peace–Ellie

He’s TOTALLY throwing the ball on cue.
ha ha
I’m sure he loved having a friend push him around.
DON’T HELP HIM WALK…what are you CRAZY ! As soon as he walks…NOTHING IS SAFE !!
Talking too…it’s all overrated. Just keep him babbling and immobile. I promise…in the long run…much much better
HAPPY 40th birthday LOIS !!!!!
ya old fart !

Happy birthday, Lois!
Love the video. The walker one cracked me up. Walkers are illegal in Canada I guess because people wouldn’t watch them around stairs…
All babies are different in how they talk. My brother barely said anything when he was an infant and then one day he started talking and never shut up.

Cheers to the Birthday Girl! Lois, you don’t know me from beans, but I’m always happy to celebrate someone else’s aging!
Andrew is doing great! I hate it when doctors express concerns over certain things at such a young age. Kiddos don’t read the books. They do things when they are ready. You kind of know in your gut when something isn’t quite right. Trust that.
10 more days until I am no longer pregnant!!!
