It’s been a busy weekend. I should currently be working on some work stuff, but I am tired from having a total non-work related weekend.
We headed up to my parents’ house on Friday night after work. We were up there by 9:30 pm, went to bed late and had my nephew Ben’s 1st birthday on Saturday.
Got back to our house Saturday night around 8 pm and I stayed home with the boy while Lois and Laura went to D’s 40th birthday bash.
Both Lois and I are fighting off cold symptoms (I feel like I just got over the last cold) and we haven’t had a busload of sleep in the past few nights.
I made the mistake of having a DD coffee Thursday night at about 9 pm after I attended a local GLBT chamber of commerce networking thing (very fun) since it was a long ride home. Needless to say, I forgot my rule about caffeine past 6 pm and was wide awake until 12:30 am. Between Andrew’s new sleeping shenanigans and our schedule, I am EXHAUSTED.
What is he up to?!?! Let’s just say that my whole proud mama thing about how great a sleeper he is has been totally shattered in just a week. He doesn’t “just go down” at night anymore, it’s a battle because he wants to be held. And for 3 nights in a row, due to various factors, we let him come into bed with us when he woke up at 4 am for a few nights, now he wants to come into bed with us at 4 am.
Last night, we tried to break him of this and from 5 am – 6:30 am, we tried to be tough. By 6:30, we were done with his crying and brought him into bed with us. Less than 5 seconds after he got into our bed, the crying stopped. The little s*^t has us completely under his little masterful thumb.
sigh.
As we are currently trying to map out how to possibly keep both of our families happy (ahem…not going to happen) for the Thanksgiving holiday, we hope everyone has a happy and safe week!
In the meantime, we TOTALLY wanted this for Andrew and we TOTALLY sucked grandpa (my father) into buying one for him for Christmas. We took it out and played with it this weekend but grandma and grandpa will wrap it up for the boy for Christmas. Like he’s going to know the difference – but it’s the point, right?!!? It is the most fun (and most obnoxious) toy ever. I highly recommend getting one for friends that you want to drive crazy!!
I borrowed someone else’s video from YouT*be to show how wonderful this thing is.
And now, for some photos of the boy from this weekend…
What?!?!? I’ll stand if I want to. It doesn’t matter that I can’t really stay up all that, well.

Go Pats!!
Andrew is utilizing his clapping abilities as much as possible.

Andrew notices Sam (my dog that really lives with my parents)

Okay, so I fully admit that I’ve been going a little crazy with the videos lately. I just uploaded like 15 of them onto YouT*be. Don’t worry, I’ll spare you most of them, but here’s just one. For now…

Okay, Andrew is Big! He’s going to play tackle any day now! & altho Elmo aint got nothin’ on Andrew, he is also worth talking about.
I am still giggling. Is it wrong to want one for myself – for days when I just need to pee my pants? That was so cute!

I absolutely love Andrew’s facial expressions…he is a hoot!!!
I wish I had a fast and easy solution for his new sleeping habits but I don’t …. I am a big sucker and let my daughter stay in my bed all the time….for the longest time it was just her and I…so it did not matter…I hope you all are feeling better soon….being sick just makes everything that much more of a hassle it seems….at least you go to go away for the weekend…so that is fun!!!
I love the elmo – I want one so bad…lol
take care and thanks for sharing it all!!!!!
Peace–Ellie

Don’t worry about him sleeping with you. Do it if you want and it works, but know that Elliott has been in and out of our bed for the past four years. Finally he’s in his own, I think. It’s a phase and it will end. He needs you more now for whatever reason, so why not cuddle him.

Crazy bitches.
Baby bowling ?
WHY don’t I think of these things to entertain the adults.
We have Elmo. I laughed like crazy for a week. I don’t laugh any more.
Good luck with Thanksgiving. Tough to keep everyone happy. As long as you are happy

he’s absolutely adorable! what a fun game too! we have the elmo also, totally fun for a few days but not so much afterwards. fortunately, ryan goes through stages and doesn’t play with it all that much anymore. my mom bought it last year when you couldn’t find them anywhere. she arrived at a store when the shipment was arriving and a gigantic line formed behind her. there were only 12 in the shipment so she was offered a good bit of money for hers to which she declined and said she couldn’t accept money in exchange for her grand daughter’s happiness. i told her we could have used the cash for her college fund ; )

I hope you get all the rest you can! With the mobile meatball and that wacky Elmo, I’d say your chances are slim! Of course I’ll be happy to babysit! Where you do live again?
