change the date

Had a doc appointment today after about 3 reschedules. I hate that my job has not been flexible lately. But, I made it and everything looks good!
The ultrasound was a belly one, so the one picture I got wasn’t too great. But I saw the heartbeat (158) and a little head and spine and body. Next appt. is in June 26th.
We’re a little anxious to find out what we’re having! I’m super anxious.

BTW – MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR GUESS FOR MY BABY GAME!

My due date changed. We had based the due date and how far along we were on the ovulation/insemination date. Today, they used the first day of my last period. I personally feel that this is a little skewed since my cycles are only 23 days long, but whatever.

So, instead of Thanksgiving Day, I’m due 12/1. Instead of being 14 weeks, I’m only 13. Whatever.

I have other updates to do, but I’m crazy at work. Good news is that it’s going to be another record for billable hours this month for me. Bad news is that the Shmoo is super cranky and not sleeping well lately and I’ve been super cranky, super pukey and super tired.

I’m seeing some potential relief in sight the week of June 15th possibly. Hope all is well with my friends in blogland!!

on the move

Lo’s parents had a little electric Porsche for their grandchildren about 10 or so years ago and gave it to a friend. The friend just returned it and the Shmoo is in car heaven.

He still loves “McKeen” and definitely steers McQueen a lot better, but he really loves the fact that the Porsche has doors and fits 2 bodies (him and his BFF). Shmoo always drives and K* is totally fine with that. When Shmoo drives the car by himself, he always points to the seat next to him and says “K*!”

This kid has a red sports car, a Porsche convertible and a Harley (tricycle). He has everything that I’m not allowed to have! (This kid is pretty spoiled by a certain set of grandparents – that’s a whole ‘nother post for a ‘nother day)

Here’s the Shmoo and his BFF cruisin’ for chicks:

This is Shmoo on Day 2 with “McKeen”. He figured out the forward/reverse and steering pretty quickly!

And, while he’s still a wee bit short for his Harley tricycle, he just figured out how to ride the old hand-me-down trike. It’s a little rickety, but he does pretty well with it!

As for me, I am hearing the calls for a belly pic or two. I’m not sure if I’m ready yet. My belly doesn’t look like much yet other than my usual flab. I’ll have to work up to posting some belly shots. I promise, I’ll try!

12.5 weeks

What a blog slacker I have turned into!

Where do I begin?

I’m currently 12.5 weeks pregnant. We have an ultrasound on Friday (13 weeks!) to check in on the little one.

The Shmoo is doing okay. We’ve been at the pediatrician’s office a few times in the last two weeks with a viral rash which made his eczema worse. Then, it returned with a vengeance 10 days later, this time with a rash from head to toe (literally, his head was as itchy as his feet), plus a fever. He was just miserable. We think we’re nearing the end of that, but now he’s just been super cranky and clinging the past 3 days. He’s doing that thing where he’s just crying for no reason. He wants juice, no he doesn’t want juice. He wants to be picked up. No, he wants to be put down. He wants to go upstairs. No he wants to go downstairs. He wants Mommy (“Hol-Dy”). No, he wants Momma. It’s quite frustrating and exhausting. He doesn’t have a fever. His teeth don’t seem to be bothering him. He was just at the doctor’s office last week and they didn’t see signs of anything else. Hopefully, he will be back to his normal self again (which is still sort of whiney, but with more laughing interspersed).

I’ve been working my tail off. I billed 66 hours last week and decided not to do any work this past Sunday, which I am currently paying for. I’m super tired, still feeling like throwing up about 99% of the time and am cranky all the time.

This is where I do a shout out to my amazing and loving wife, Lo, who has been taking care of me and the Shmoo and has not either left us or tried to smother us in our sleep. I love you Lo! ;-)

Our weekends have been as packed recently as our weekdays. Unfortunately, not much is looking like it will cool down soon. I just need to be a total rock star and make it through this week without too many hitches or full exhaustion.

And I need to always remember to hit “mute” on my conference call before I throw up (or just dry heave) in my office garbage can. I haven’t forgotten to do this yet.

BTW – I can’t seem to get a “widgetbox” baby ticker to work on WordPress. I guess wordpress doesn’t recognize javascript. Anyone have any suggestions, or other good html widgets?

hot rod

This kid has WAYYY too many ride on toys. But his Mema and Pop-Pop (Lo’s parents) just HAD to get him the perfect battery powered ride for the world’s biggest Cars fan.

They busted him from day care today to bring him to their house to see the new toy. We were told that he did a happy dance when he saw it – which is the Hot Dog dance from Mickey.Mouse.Clubhouse.

Check out these wheels…

At least he’s taking pride in car ownership by keeping it clean.

This kid is set. I’m not sure what level we are going to hit before I have to try to put some limits on the grandparents’ spoil factor…but this is pretty cool.

He’s been saying “Lit-Mc-Keen-FAST-zoom” all night!

Shmoo-isms

I’ve been on conference calls for days. Today is day 3 of my 7 hours per day engineering/property calls. It’s totally brutal.

Things are going well for us. The little bean is still kicking my ass a little, but I’m trying not to complain.

While I get my act together to do some most posting soon, here are a few Shmoo-isms:

1. He was missing his Lightning McQueen and I said to Lo under my breath that it was probably in his room. He disappeared and I heard him dragging something. He pulled his stool to the wall at the bottom of the stairs, climbed up and turned on the light switch to the overhead light and proceeded upstairs to his room. He was a man on a mission. When he got to his room, he said “light, please” asking me to turn on his room light, then stood in the middle of the room and yelled “KEEEN! KEEEEN!” expecting Lightning McQueen to appear.

2. His occasional loviness cracks me up. When he picks up his vitamins (with Nemo), or a DVD or something else with a picture he likes, he turns his head to the side, brings the item to his cheek and makes this little happy noise – giving love.

3. He usually says “no” to any question. Last night, I asked him what he did during the day. He said “no” to every question. When I got to his doctor appointment, he said “no” but then proceeded to lift his shirt and announce “no hurt.”

4. Lo asked him yesterday if he had a big belly and he tipped his head to the side, grabbed his belly and said, “no, leetle beewy”.

5. It’s funny watching him play with other kids his age. He gets very excited to see his friends. But he’s definitely more “full speed ahead” than some of his buddies. He’ll jump right into an activity (such as the water table we bought him that was worth every penny) and his friends just watch the overactive Shmoo for a while to figure out if they want to join in. Then, he’ll come over and physically direct his little friend to join him, lead them to the activity, hand them a cup, etc. It’s priceless.

6. He reminds us that it’s time to brush his teeth by jumping up and down and saying “burr teeef” while emulating tooth brushing!

7. This kid runs wicked fast. A few people have said to me recently that they have never seen a 2 yr old move as fast as him. I know….try letting him out of his stroller at a store…he’s damn fast. I have watched other kids his age run and they are more….lackadaisical…not that I’m comparing my kid to another kid, but the difference is unbelievable. He runs like a raw athlete. It didn’t occur to me how quick he was until we were outside the other night and he was in his crocs. All of a sudden, he decided to chase down his little playmates about 70 yard away. All of the parents standing and talking just stopped and watched him. The guys all said “holy shit…that kid can book it…did you see that???” They all then spent the next 10 minutes talking about how they had never seen a kid run like that. I’m excited that he might be athletic but a little worried my fat ass will not be able to catch him when he gets loose…
